The Capital Region Farmers Market’s local and regional farmers, growers and producers are coming together for the Canberra community with a one-off special Christmas Market on Christmas Eve.

“We know 2020 has been so challenging for everyone, in particular our farmers and growers who have endured so much with drought, then the Summer bushfires and then the Covid-19 pandemic.

“To finish the year we all wanted to come together outside of our usual Saturday morning timeslot for a special Christmas Market as a bit of festive fun, and to ensure the people of the Canberra region continue to have access to the best and freshest produce over Christmas” said Capital Region Farmers Market Manager, Sarah Power.

“Visitors will find many of our stallholders with lots of produce on offer on Christmas Eve, Thursday 24th December from 7am to 11am,” Sarah continued.

The Christmas Market will feature fresh seafood, a range of meats for Christmas lunch, fresh fruit and vegetables, bakery favourites and sweet treats for the season, along with fresh flowers and more.

“It’s sad when re realise some of our most-loved stallholders are only just now returning after the summer bushfires that devastated many parts of NSW. But on a brighter note, we are pleased to say that we have two of our most fire affected stallholders, Clyde River Blueberries and Harrison and Sons, returning this week with blueberries and stone fruits respectively. We love seeing our customers throw support behind them.

“We would also really like to thank the people of the Canberra Region for continuing to support our farmers and producers, and for working with us to ensure our Market remained open as an essential service during the Covid pandemic. Without their support and willingness to adapt to new rules and regulations, our growers just wouldn’t receive the support they so desperately need this year. We wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season and a very Merry Christmas” concluded Sarah.

Capital Region Farmers Market’s Christmas Market will be held on Thursday 24th December from 7am to 11am. Customers are encouraged to pre-order as some stallholders will be offering pick-up only at the Christmas Market. The Market will then be closed for a break and return in 2021 on Saturday 9th January.
