Media Release – Wednesday 15 May 2013

A range of jerseys from the recent ANZAC Day Test in Canberra, framed and signed by Victoria and George Cross recipients including Ben Roberts-Smith VC MG, as well as both the Australian and New Zealand ANZAC Test squads, are now up for auction on ALLBIDS.

“The significance of having ANZAC Day Test jerseys signed by VC and GC recipients is clear, and we’re proud to be supporting the charity Solider On with the proceeds of these auctions,” said Richard Hume, Chief Operating Officer of ALLBIDS.

With signatures by Ben Roberts-Smith VC MG, Michael Pratt GC, Keith Payne VC OAM, Daniel Keighran VC and Mark Donaldson VC, this particular Australian jersey is already garnering great interest on the Canberra-based auction website.

“From our friends over the Tasman, we have a New Zealand jersey signed by Corporal Willie Apiata VC,” Richard continued.  “And there are also two team jerseys — signed by the entire Australian and New Zealand ANZAC Day Test squads — up for auction as well.”

The four jerseys were kindly donated by the Canberra Raiders, with all proceeds from the auctions to be given to Solider On.

Soldier On works to support those who have served Australia, particularly those who have returned physically or psychologically wounded. Its vision is to give wounded Australians access to the world’s best standard of care and support.

The auctions end on the evening of Wednesday 22 May 2013.  The jerseys can be viewed at http://www.allbids.com.au/Charity-Auctions/.
