MEDIA ALERT – 14 October 2010

 Canberra’s famed Old Bus Depot Markets will this weekend host the inaugural Green Savvy Sunday on 17 October from 10am to 4pm. The special theme day is aimed at making people’s lives more sustainable.

Green Savvy Sunday will promote the themes of recycle, reuse and low use of energy and will feature:

Recycled and UPcycled fashion and jewellery.

  • Organic food and wine.
  • Green groups who can talk to market visitors about green smart alternatives for living.
  • Craft made from recycled materials
  • Organic skin care products.
  • Green Savvy Speakers – an all day speakers program headlined by famed author and sustainability guru, Jackie French.
  • Mobile phone drop-off point to safely dispose of unwanted mobiles.

As part of Green Savvy Sunday the Old Bus Depot Markets, in partnership with a local solar company Armada Solar, are installing solar panels on their roof to help make the markets carbon neutral for the day.
