Media Release – Tuesday 17 February 2015

Twelve Apostles Lodge Walk has just launched their 2015/16 walking season. The first of their amazing walks will take place on 31 August 2015, with walks operating right through until the end of May 2016. Places are limited to just 900 walkers each year, and this season the company invites people to focus more on mindfulness, switching off from screen time, and connecting firmly with nature, friends and family on their walks.

“This season will see us walk the last 52 kilometres of The Great Ocean Walk more than 90 times. Each time we take small groups of up to ten people, fill them with clean fresh air and the most amazing, and truly iconic, Australian scenery – we’re creating the moments that people need most in their lives,” said Dana Ronan, Director of Twelve Apostles Lodge Walk.

Twelve Apostles Lodge Walk is located at Johanna, 250km south west of Melbourne on Victoria’s Great Ocean Road. The operators, Dana and Gavin Ronan, are this year celebrating ten very successful years in business.

“This season we’re focusing on creating memorable moments – whether it be moments of freedom, celebration, connection, exploration, inspiration– or something else entirely. There are only a finite number of moments in our lives, and we need to make them count.

“We’ve come to have a good understanding of the reasons why people take multi day walks.  For some, they seek achievement or to cross another great walk off their list.  For others, it’s celebrating a special occasion, connecting with nature, switching off from technology.  We’re striking a deeper connection with these ideas and why people should make the Twelve Apostles Lodge Walk a memorable moment of their lifetime,” Dana continued.

The walk offering now also has a greater emphasis on using local produce. All food is produced by their live-in chef, Ha Nguyen, the meals are planned to be low GI and deliver the slow release of energy necessary for those walks. It’s a quality food and wine experience, showcasing local and regional ingredients accompanied by the region’s wines and micro-brew beers.

Other recent changes to the product include the name change.  Formerly known as BothFeet Walking Tours they became a part of the Great Walks of Australia campaign last year which highlights the eight great walks in Australia.

The walks have become increasingly popular as gifts for ‘those who have everything’.   Vouchers are available via the website or by phoning the company direct.

The 2015/16 Twelve Apostles Lodge Walks are all 4 days/3 nights and include accommodation in eco-luxe ensuite villas in a natural rainforest amphitheatre. The lodge is sustainably designed and built, and is Advanced Eco-certified with Ecotourism Australia. Walks are priced from $1995 per person, and include accommodation, all gourmet meals (including morning and afternoon teas), return Melbourne transfers to the lodge, walking gear and a scenic helicopter ride over the Twelve Apostles.

“And of course there are still places available for walks throughout February, March, April and May this year, with our tenth birthday being officially recognised on 20 April,” Dana concluded.
