Media Release – Friday 29 November 2014

At this time of year, thoughts inevitably turn to where to shop to make the season extra special. And for fresh, delicious food that evokes the Christmas spirit, the Capital Region Farmers Market is still the best place to tick off the Christmas food list.

“Every Christmas we start thinking about sharing the silly season with our loved ones, and these good times are always filled with the yummiest of food, and refreshing drinks for cheer,” said Adrienne Moss, spokesperson for the Capital Region Farmers Market.

“The Capital Region Farmers Market is still the original, the biggest and the best Canberra farmers market. Fresh tasty food, lower food miles and knowing that you’re supporting local farmers are just three reasons to make the Market the place to buy your Christmas food.

“If you’re looking for the perfect fresh Christmas tree, entertaining family and friends in the lead up to Christmas, or hosting the big day with all the decadent trimmings, the Market is the best place to fill your stockings,” she continued.

Throughout the season, the Market will be well stocked with fresh fruit and vegetables, the best meats including lovely Christmas hams, seafood, chocolates, puddings, cakes, wine and many sweet treats.

“Customers will find amazing seafood including fish, oysters and prawns, and because nothing says summer like cherries, the growers from Young are back with big juicy cherries available in bags or large boxes.”

This year the Capital Region Christmas Hampers are also back, packed with goodies from the Market including wine, coffee, chocolates, nuts, preserves and olive oil.

“The Market will run as usual until Saturday 21 December. We will then take a brief break and will reopen for 2014 on Saturday 11 January,” concluded Adrienne.

The Capital Region Farmers Market is a genuine farmers market with over 100 stalls offering a diverse range of fresh food and agricultural produce straight from the producer to the customer. The Market is run by the Rotary Club of Hall and was founded in 2004. All profits from Market stallholder fees are fed back into regional communities and other projects chosen by the Club.

The Capital Region Farmers Market operates every Saturday morning from 7.30am – 11.30am at Exhibition Park in Canberra. For more information visit www.capitalregionfarmersmarket.com.au
