Media Release – 8 May 2013

For the tenth year running the Old Bus Depot Markets will be hosting their colourful theme event, Creative Fibre, a celebration of all things textile, on Sunday 14 July 2013.

The event will feature some of the country’s most talented textile artists and designers who will be showcasing and selling their handcrafted wares, from hand dyed fabric prints and yarns, to baskets, weavings, embroidery and more.

Creative Fibre is a day for all lovers of textiles to come together and appreciate the fine workmanship and skill that goes in to each wonderful piece.  Artists from throughout the region will showcase their amazing products, all created to the highest standards,” said Diane Hinds, Director of the Old Bus Depot Markets.

At Creative Fibre visitors can engage with the stallholders and designers, learning the stories behind the products and the processes involved. Well known Canberra textile artist, Julie Ryder, is one such designer who’ll be at the event. Julie designs and hand blocks her beautiful range of linen and cotton table runners, tea towels and more. Shoppers will also be able to take home original textile work, including striking garments, accessories and homewares.

“The Australian National University’s School of Textiles will also be showcasing student work and providing information about their courses,” Diane continued.

Creative Fibre at the Old Bus Depot Markets will be open Sunday 14 July 2013 from 10am – 4pm and entry is free. For more information visit www.obdm.com.au.
