At Threesides, we like to say no two days are ever the same, and after more than a year in the role, I can confirm that still holds true.
I’m Tash, the Marketing Coordinator here, and this month I’m sharing a behind-the-scenes look at what a typical week in my role actually looks like.
Every Monday starts with priorities, planning and a clean inbox
It’s Monday morning, I’ve got a fresh cup of coffee and time to tackle that inbox. This might just be me, but I HATE having a messy inbox, so each day I spend a few minutes reorganising and making sure it’s nice and tidy, so nothing gets missed or slips into the black hole a.k.a the spam folder.
Monday morning is also when I get a chance to sit down, organise my priorities for the week and look at what needs to be done using Basecamp, our project management system. One of the great things about Basecamp is their Kanban layout, it’s a visual snapshot and the easiest way to track my to-do’s and what the rest of the team has on, so I know what’s coming my way. Monday is the day for the weekly team catch-up we call Goalfest. Goalfest is a quick catchup at 10am every Monday, irrelevant of where we are in the world that day, and gives us the opportunity to share three goals for the week, a little something we are looking forward to, and tell the team any planned out of office commitments.
Midweek client catch-ups, content creation and all the fun stuff
Throughout the week, my time is split between meetings and content work. Client WIPs are a regular part of the schedule, giving us a chance to catch up, hear what’s happening on their end, and adjust campaigns. These sessions are great for keeping things on track, generating new ideas and getting timely feedback, whether it’s for social content, a website update, digital ads or anything else they’ve got on the go.
In between meetings, my focus is largely working on organic content. This includes drafting blog posts, email direct marketing (EDM), mapping out social media calendars and helping out with website content and design. Every now and then I get to jump in on larger projects like annual content plans, helping build strategic plans, and broader marketing strategies.
There are also weeks when I’m out on location with photo and video shoots, gathering fresh content or supporting our suppliers. One of the perks is getting to collaborate with amazing people like Paul from Mode Imagery and the boys at Missing Bits, who always make shoots that much more fun.
Expect the unexpected
As a Marketing Coordinator, it’s my job to expect the unexpected. There is always time set aside to manage last-minute client requests, but then there are those times when platforms update with no warning, or something a bit more dramatic, like the week all our phone lines went down, and we lost all internet (just the joys of technology). In this role, flexibility is essential, and being able to adapt quickly has become second nature.
Wrapping up the week
Fridays are for wrapping up. I usually spend the afternoon finalising any content that needs to go out, sending off client updates, making edits based on feedback, and, most importantly, reorganising my calendar and inbox after whatever mayhem the week delivered.
And perhaps Todd’s favourite thing on Fridays is sharing a work win of the week. It could be nailing a deadline, kicking off a new client project, or finally landing that meeting we’ve been chasing for weeks. It’s a simple tradition, but a great reflection on what we have achieved for the week.
Perks of the role
What I love most about this role is the balance between creativity and structure. There’s always room to be imaginative, but there’s also a clear sense of process and purpose behind everything we do. I enjoy seeing campaigns come to life, especially when they’re for clients doing great things.
I was lucky enough to start with Threesides while I was finishing my marketing degree. The hands-on experience, support from the team, and exposure to so many industries have been an incredible way to kick-start my career. If you’re studying or thinking about a job in marketing, my advice is simple: get involved, stay curious and be open to learning everything you can.
