Canberrans will have an extra opportunity to shop for the best and freshest Christmas foods, with the Capital Region Farmers Market announcing today the addition of a special lunchtime Christmas Market.

“In addition to our regular Saturday morning Market where shoppers can buy everything from tasty Christmas hams, seafood, baked treats, and fresh fruit and vegetables, we’ll offer customers one more chance to buy what they need from local and regional farmers and growers at our special Christmas Market on Thursday 23rd December,” said Market Manager, Sarah Power.

“We’re welcoming some of our stallholders to the lunchtime Christmas Market to give them another chance to sell their produce after what has been a very challenging year. We hope as many of our Market regulars will enjoy the chance to support local, and shop over their lunch break, or when hopefully they have already started their Christmas breaks,” Sarah continued.

The Christmas Market will take place on Thursday 23rd December, just one day before Christmas Eve. Around 50 stallholders are expected to bring fresh vegetables and all the delicious summer fruits including cherries, nectarines, apricots, peaches and strawberries. Plus, there will be dairy and cheeses, bread and some seriously yummy baked treats including festive fruit tarts and fruit-laden Christmas puddings.

“ We will also have fresh staples to sustain you throughout the Christmas/new year period including eggs, honey, fresh pasta, poultry and beef. It’s time to get menu planning!” Sarah continued.

Capital Region Farmers Market will be open on regular Saturdays 11th and 18th December from 7:00am – 11:30am. The additional Christmas Market will be open Thursday 23rd December from 10.30am – 1.30pm. The Market is then closed Christmas Day and will reopen on Saturday 15th January 2022.
