Media Release – Thursday 4 June 2015

Kids. Love ‘em but always need to entertain ‘em. That’s why Canberra’s favourite Sunday market, the Old Bus Depot Markets, is hosting a day focused on the littlies in our lives. Their Kids in the Shed theme day will be held on Sunday 21 June 2015, and promises to be a great day out for children, parents and grandparents.

“If you’re looking for something great to do with your kids on a Sunday, bring them in to the Old Bus Depot Markets where they’ll have a ball,” said Old Bus Depot Markets’ Director, Morna Whiting.

“This year Kids in the Shed will be a little different from previous years. We’ll have some special art and craft sessions for the little ones.

“And the markets will be buzzing with lots of kid friendly entertainment, pony rides, a jumping castle, Milo the clown, face painting and lots and lots more,” Morna continued.

Some of these activities will involve a small fee, but there’s so much going on at the markets that they’re bound to just love having a look around regardless.

“There will also be plenty of products especially for the kids – find them some new clothes, funky accessories, handcrafted toys and artworks for their bedrooms,” said Morna.

Stallholders at the Kids in the Shed event include among others James Dowdall with fabulous dolls houses; Julie Blucher from Upwardly Mobile with her range of handmade Australian themed mobiles; children’s pyjamas from Charlie Belle; handmade homewares and babies accessories from Larn Nicholson at Foxes Hill; gorgeous wooden toys from Peter Mitchell; fairy doors and houses from Once upon a Door; knitted sheepskin lined booties from Sara York; organic cotton baby clothes and pure merino children’s wear from Amy Nowlan at Country Charm; and high quality children’s furniture.

Watch the kids delight in making hairy caterpillars or sand pictures, jump for joy on the jumping castle, transform with face painting, ride a pony and laugh at Milo the Clown with performances at 11am and 12.30pm.

“It’s a great way to find your inner child or just enjoy this family day out. We’d love to see you there,” concluded Morna.

Kids in the Shed will be open Sunday 21 June from 10am to 4pm. Entry is free. For more information on the Old Bus Depot Markets go to www.obdm.com.au
