Canberra’s largest and most popular Farmers Market, the Capital Region Farmers Market, will this month celebrate 15 years feeding the Canberra community at a Market celebration to be held on Saturday 16th March 2019.
“The Capital Region Farmers Market is thriving after 15 years in Canberra,” said Capital Region Farmers Market Director and Rotary spokesperson, John Kenworthy.
“It’s been 15 years of fresh produce, 15 years supporting local and regional farmers and producers, 15 years supporting community projects and contributions through Rotary, and 15 years successfully feeding our community,” John continued.
The Market’s 15th anniversary will be celebrated on Saturday 16th March, and the community is invited to take part. The Market will offer shoppers on the day the chance to win one of 20 bags of fresh Market produce. 20 Market Gift Vouchers are also up for grabs via a social media competition commencing this week.
“We really want to make our 15th birthday about celebrating what we have achieved over the past 15 years. Rotary really has made a huge impact to local and regional projects as a direct result of funds from the Farmers Market. At our birthday celebrations we will have stalls set up by some of the many local organisations who have benefited greatly as a direct result of contributions from the Capital Region Farmers Market,” John continued.
Food affiliated stalls will also be on site on 16th March to celebrate, and visitors can get a real birthday party feel with a huge 15th birthday model cake onsite to mark the occasion.
“We really have come such a long way since the Market’s inception back in 2003. We started out in 2004 with just 15 stalls and around 850 customers, and today we are a busy Market offering a range of new and familiar produce to the discerning shopper. The Market now has around 100 stalls and welcomes around 6000 customers each week.
“The Rotary Club of Hall and Market organisers are also excited about some future ideas that will really innovate the Market in 2019 and well into the future.
“We invite the Canberra community to come along and mark this very special milestone with us and hope to see a bustling Market on 16th March to celebrate” concluded John.
