Canberra’s Sunday best, the Old Bus Depot Markets, will spend two huge days showcasing all things wool at the upcoming two-day Canberra Wool Expo, taking place Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 May 2026.
This year’s expo will offer over 180 market stalls, with more than 50 specialty wool and fibre stalls showcasing handmade, artisan, and farm-label wool products across the two days.
“The Canberra Wool Expo has continued to establish itself as one of the region’s largest celebrations of wool, fibre arts, and handmade craftsmanship, bringing together wool producers, artisans, designers, and specialty makers from across Canberra, regional NSW, Victoria, and interstate,” said Old Bus Depot Markets’ Director, Anthony Niravong.
“We’ve got two full days dedicated to wool culture, traditional craftsmanship, and contemporary fibre artistry.
“This is the chance for all visitors to Market to see the complete process from raw fibre, to yarn and then to the many fabulous finished wool products.
Canberra Wool Expo has a long history at the Markets, with this being the event’s 13th year. Having moved from a single day event to a two-day expo back in 2017, the event pulls crowds from near and far who come for the pure love of wool and its many uses.
In 2026, the market welcomes producers travelling from many different parts of Australia. Just a few of the wool businesses attending include Nature’s Socks Australia, Fancy Yarns Australia, Coloured Wool and Fibre Company from Koetong in Victoria’s High Country, and The Australian Wool Store.
Visitors to the 2026 Canberra Wool Expo can expect live demonstrations including spinning, weaving, felting, and traditional fibre craft techniques, a huge range of hand-dyed yarns, designer knitwear, woollen garments, accessories and homewares.
“Whether you like the comfort of rugging up all cozy and warm in woollen garments in the cooler weather, find it relaxing to knit, crochet or craft with wool, or want to see some more traditional wool practices in action, the Canberra Wool Expo will be a great weekend out,” said Anthony.
Family-friendly experiences include interactive displays, animal encounters with special guests Armani and Elvis the Black Nose Valais sheep and Hephner the alpaca, and opportunities to learn about natural fibres.
“Canberra Wool Expo really is a celebration of sustainability, slow fashion, handmade creativity and wool culture,” concluded Anthony.
Canberra Wool Expo will be held at the Old Bus Depot Markets in Kingston, Canberra, on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 May 2026. The Expo will be open from 9.30am to 2.30pm each day. For more information, visit www.obdm.com.au
