The theme for Floriade 2018, Australia’s Celebration of Spring, was officially announced on Monday as Pop Culture. And Canberra Rotary District 9710 has announced they’ll ‘pop’ too as Floriade’s Supported Charity Partner.
“This year, Rotary celebrates 90 years in Canberra so it’s fitting we’ll get to share some of our exciting birthday celebrations with Canberrans and visitors who flock through Commonwealth Park for Floriade – Pop Culture,” said Rotary District Governor for District 9710, Margaret Hassell.
“Rotary is looking forward to 30 full days of action onsite at Floriade where our Rotary 90th Birthday Marquee will offer lots of colour and fun – we’ll have a monster birthday cake, a mega birthday card for visitors to sign, and lots more to enjoy from 15 September until 14 October”, Margaret continued.
Rotary’s activities will culminate with Pop in the Park, a special lunch time birthday party to celebrate Rotary’s 90th Birthday with a barbecue picnic style lunch on the lawns with entertainment. Children and the young at heart will be invited to dress in their favourite hero or Pop Culture costumes. Pop in the Park will take place on Sunday 30 September at Floriade.
“Rotary is thrilled to be involved as a Supported Charity Partner for Floriade 2018, and we look forward to welcoming visitors with a friendly smile and sharing Rotary’s many stories of community involvement and the achievements we have made over the last 90 years in Canberra,” concluded Margaret.
