Media Release – 28 September 2011

The town of Young in NSW is gearing up to host the 2011 National Cherry Festival, and this year’s festival program is packed with a great mix of events.

To be held on 2 – 4 December, this year’s National Cherry Festival not only celebrates the arrival of Young’s most precious crop, but will see a highly colourful program of events and activities with something to suit all tastes and ages.

“From the excitement of the Extreme FMX Air Freestyle Moto Cross Team display, to fresh produce of our local farmers markets, live music and spectacular fireworks, this year’s festival program is sure to delight all visitors to Young,” said Claire Myers, Marketing Officer at the Young Visitor Centre and Treasurer of the National Cherry Festival Committee.

“We will of course have all our favourite cherry themed events back for this year including the Wilders Bakery Cherry Pie Eating Competition, Woolworths Cherry Festival Street parade and the Cherry Pip Spit Competition,” she continued.

“There’s also a program of Fringe events happening in and around Young over the festival period which includes carnivals, championship dog shows, the Young’s Got Talent competition, art exhibitions, a short film festival and much more,” she concluded.
