MEDIA RELEASE – 3 November 2010

WOMEN BEWARE: The Old Bus Depot Markets will be home to some of the best and most unusual jewellery designers at next week’s annual Jewel of Canberra theme day. And it will be hard to leave empty handed!

Jewellery collectables expert, Russell Brooks, will be travelling from Sydney to exhibit his collection of gorgeous brooches from renowned Parisian designer, Lea Stein.

“Women absolutely swamped his stall at our Portobello Road Market earlier this year. These brooches are collected all over the world and feature everything from the popular foxes, to flappers and flowers,” said Old Bus Depot Markets owner, Diane Hinds.

“Today Lea Stein’s designs are displayed on women’s lapels everywhere from Paris to New York, to Sydney and Canberra. And women beware, collecting Lea Stein’s jewellery can become an addiction,” she continued.

The range of jewellery at Jewel of Canberra will include exquisite brooches, earrings and pendants made from silver and titanium, Swarovski crystal and semi-precious stone necklaces, organic pebble based neck pieces, millefiori beads, precious gemstones set in gold and silver, pearls, fabric brooches, men’s cufflinks and much more.

“We’re so pleased to be able to showcase some really unusual jewellery this year including that of Blue Mountains artist, Michelle Snowdon. Her collection of unusual felt rings and necklaces made from recycled t-shirts just have to be seen to be believed.”

Jewel of Canberra will be held on Sunday 14 November at the Old Bus Depot Markets. Open from 10am to 4pm, entry is free. For more information visit www.obdm.com.au
