The hosts of Country Guesthouse Schönegg, Evelyn and Richard Everson, were thrilled to win the Hosted Accommodation category at last week?s Canberra and Capital Region Tourism Awards. The win was their 9th major award since the guesthouse opened in 2003.
“I believe our submission was successful because it was able to reflect the unique experience guests enjoy so much when they visit Schonegg,” said Richard.
The submission process requires operators to review the performance of their business. The Country Guesthouse Schönegg submission used excellent photography to capture the uniquely Australian landscape of the region and narrative text to describe the sights, sounds, aromas and emotions of a guest visit. Quotes from the guest book were also used to add authenticity and colour.
“Despite the significant challenges of swine flu and the global financial crisis, I am very pleased to report that the business had experienced ongoing growth, thanks to a very high percentage of repeat and referral guests.
“It means a lot to us that people chose our property to spend their quality time together. We know how important that time is” he said.
During her acceptance speech at the Canberra and Capital Region Tourism Awards held at Canberra?s National Convention Centre on Thursday 26 November, Evelyn thanked Australian Capital Tourism for their fantastic support, particularly for the very successful „Wrapt In Winter? campaign.
“We?re looking forward to the Masterpieces from Paris exhibition, opening in Canberra at the National Gallery of Australia this week, to help keep the positive momentum going into 2010”, Evelyn said.
