MEDIA RELEASE – 9 December 2010

Everyone can get into the festive spirit and stock up on the best and freshest regional food just in time for Christmas at the Capital Region Farmers Market’s special Twilight Market.

The Twilight Market will be held onsite at the Capital Region Farmers Market, Exhibition Park, at the special time of Thursday 23 December, the day before Christmas Eve, from 4 – 7pm. Entry will be via the usual entrance on Wells Station Road.

This is a great opportunity for people to stock their kitchens with everything needed for the holiday season, and an opportunity to come and see your favourite stallholders for the last time in 2010.

Visit the Twilight Market to take advantage of the lovely fresh seasonal foods synonymous with the festive time of year. All the favourite fruits are back with a spectacular array of the region’s best seasonal stone fruits and berries. Of course there’s peaches and nectarines, plus cherries, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries…the market is filled with their lovely scents at this time of year. Summer vegetables have come on strong, plus you can buy fresh seafood and you may even bag a last minute Christmas ham.

The Market will operate normally over the next two Saturdays, 11 and 18 December, then again on 23 December for the special Twilight Market. After that all market stallholders are taking a well earned rest for the Christmas holidays and New Year. The Market will return to normal operation on Saturday 15 January 2011.

The Capital Region Farmers Market in Canberra is a genuine farmers market with over 100 stalls offering a diverse range of fresh food and agricultural produce straight from the producer to the customer. It is held every Saturday morning at Exhibition Park from 8 am to 11 am.

All funds generated from the Market are fed back into regional communities and other projects chosen by the Rotary Club of Hall which founded the Market in 2004.
