Canberra Girls Grammar School Announces Date of Departure for School Principal

mediawire by August 1, 2018

Canberra Girls Grammar School (CGGS) today announced that a date has been confirmed for the departure of the School’s Principal, Mrs Anne Coutts, after more than seven and a half years in the role.

Chair of the School Board, Belinda Moss, wrote to the School community saying:

“Anne will leave the school at the end of Term 3, on Friday 28 September 2018.

The Board has carefully considered the timing of Anne’s departure and is confident that this decision strikes the right balance between the needs of the School and our ability to support Anne as she embarks on the next chapter of her life.

As I wrote previously, Anne’s husband, Ian, has been elected Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Bunbury, in Western Australia. By finishing up with the School at the end of Term 3, Anne will be able to be there with Ian when he commences in his new role. I know I speak on behalf of the whole School community in wishing them both every success.

Our community has many things to thank Anne for during her time leading Girls Grammar:

  • The design and construction of our state of the art science wing and the newly opened multi-purpose lakeside Yhuuramulum building;
  • The founding and championing of the Canberra Girls Grammar School Music Academy;
  • The roll out of the Ad Astra Program across Year 5, Year 7 and Year 9;
  • The broadening of our co-curricula and sports programs;
  • The expansion of our Early Learning Centre in time for the 2019 academic year.

This is an exciting time at the School, with much preparatory work already well underway in the area of facilities planning (through our updated Masterplan, which will be shared with our community for the first time this term) and a complete review of our marketing and advertising strategies, to sharpen our whole of School brand and identity program. The Board will continue to oversee these important activities as we search for our next Principal.

I am delighted that from Term 4, Mr Peter Milligan, the current and experienced Head of Senior School, will take on the role of Acting Principal. I am looking forward to working closely with Peter and have every confidence that he will flourish in the role and continue to move our outstanding school forward.

I expect that we will be advertising in mid-August for our next Principal and will continue to keep you updated as our appointment process progresses.”
