Google has rolled out some new ad transparency tools to increase user privacy and experience. Advertisers are now legally required to verify their name and location, which will be disclosed on ads you run (e.g. John Smith, Australia). This information will be available for users if they click the drop-down arrow icon next to the ad which then displays the ”About the advertiser” section below.

Document requirements are different for each country. For Australia, organisations are required to submit one of the following registration documents:

  • Certificate of Incorporation or Registration
  • DUNS certificate
  • Organisations may also provide their Australian Business Number (ABN).

An authorised representative must also submit an Australian government-issued photo ID as part of the verification program. These documents include:

  • Passport
  • Driving licence
  • Photo ID Card

Unfortunately, we’re unable to verify on your behalf. This has to be done by an authorised representative of the account who is an admin of both the account and payments profile.

Here’s an outline of what you’ll need to do to ensure your ads keep running:

1. Click ‘Get Started’/’Start’ in the email or the in-account notification. This will open the ‘Billing Settings’ page in your Google Ads account.

2. In the ‘Identity verification’ section, click ‘Fix it’. This will open a pop up to consent to show the name and location that will be shown on the ad disclosures. Click Agree and continue.

3. You’ll be asked to verify your identity. Review and upload all required documents, and then click ‘Submit’.
