Marketing sandos with On Lonsdale
One of Canberra’s most iconic streets, Lonsdale Street in Braddon, is home to On Lonsdale. On Lonsdale owners Lachlan Exton and Maheer Prasad, together with their Chef Cho Yoon – the same team behind Dickson’s refreshed cafe Highroad – opened On Lonsdale in November 2024.
Their point of difference is the sando – Asian-inspired sandwiches with a blend of both traditional and innovative flavours featuring cloud-like shokupan milk bread baked locally nearby in Dickson. All sandos are packed with locally sourced ingredients where possible.
On Lonsdale’s goals
- Establish On Lonsdale as the go-to café in Braddon for coffee and a bite to eat
- Grow social media following
Our approach
We love working with good people, and we already knew the people of On Lonsdale would be wonderful to work with once again following our work with their other business, Highroad in Dickson. We were excited to hear they would be bringing something different to Braddon in the way of Asian inspired sandos, and looked forward to assisting them with their marketing, even before the restaurant fitout was complete.
Kicking off activity with a Marketing Plan to really nail the brand proposition and product offering, we then moved to photography and an official media launch with the ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr, attracting media interest in such a unique offering in Braddon. It was then over to the local influencers who were offered a sando and coffee to enjoy with a friend in their own time – some fabulous socials content resulted. With a new website in the planning phases, tactics focus on making and maintaining the On Lonsdale fan base via social media, and localised events and engagement.
