Take a look at some of the most exciting marketing bits and pieces that caught our eye in March, including a new app to try, Super Bowl ads and Canberra’s very own Enlighten Festival. We have some new faces in the office too!

You may say ‘new apps, whats the happs?’ Some of our team had a play with Vero this month, a new player in social media apps. Although it’s been around since 2015, its starting to get more traction now. Vero claims their social network is for “anyone who loves anything enough to share it – and wants control over who they share it with”. In Vero you control who sees what and content appears in chronological order not by some mystical formula made up by other platforms and does not display ads on its feeds (yet!). It sure is pretty to look at, but will we see it crack into the power group of Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Pinterest? Check it out at https://www.vero.co/

Super SuperBowl ads goes Aussie! The sporting event that puts a hefty price on air time had an Australian contender this year. Dundee starts out as what appears to be a movie trailer for a sequel to the famous Crocodile Dundee film series of the 80s but don’t get too excited Hogan is not coming back, it’s a clever movie induced tourism tactic to promote Australia.

We have got some pretty amazing women working in our office so it was awesome to see other companies celebrating 2018 International Women’s Day too. Our friends at Google highlighted the momentum of growing interest in gender equality globally with this powerful clip about search trends.

The billboard industry thanked the Oscar-nominated movie Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, the best way they know how…with billboards. They thanked the movie for bringing attention back to this longstanding advertising platform by saying “On behalf of billboards everywhere, thank you”, on billboards across America. 5Canberra’s Enlighten Highlights! There was so much that went on, fireworks, hot air balloons, local films, illuminations, food markets and glow-nuts. Some of our team worked their butts off to promote it and we take our hats off to them. This year the photos were incredible, it was great to see everyone sharing their favourite moments from the festival on social media. To catch the highlights (literally) we suggest checking out #EnlightenCanberra on Instagram or jump on their Facebook page.

Netflix has brought social media fails to the tube with ‘Nailed It’, the show where amateur bakers are challenged to create some of the internet’s trickiest baked goods. We saw this first on social media with trends like ‘Pinterest fails’ or ‘DIY fails’ and now we are excited this has been brought to our screens, definitely put it on the binge list.

We have some new Threesiders, who started this month! We welcome Dianne and Clare. Dianne is our new Office Manager and we love what she brings to the office, literally too, she has opened up our snack knowledge by multitudes! Clare, our new Graduate Marketing Coordinator lights up any space with her smile and comes to us from one of our favourite clients, Canberra Girls Grammar School (she loved CGGS so much she went back post school to join their marketing team).
