For anyone who loves collectables, the Old Bus Depot Markets is the place to be this coming Sunday, 14 August, for the popular Portobello Road in August

Named after London’s famed Portobello Road which is home to the world’s largest antiques markets, Portobello Road in August is the popular Canberra markets’ turn to showcase small antiques and collectables, on a much smaller scale of course.

“This time around there will be more than 26 collectors on site showcasing an eclectic mix of quirky and interesting treasures,” said Old Bus Depot Markets’ Director, Anthony Niravong.

“Visitors can look forward to a good rummage through old books, antique jewellery, china and art glass, silverware and restored pieces,” Anthony continued.

New this year is Empire Stamps. Business owner, Chris Swinbank, will bring his high quality vintage collections from Old Parliament House, Duntroon and from the Commonwealth Public Service, as well as stamps and covers. This Canberra based collector will have a range of memorabilia from Old Parliament House on offer including vintage silverware and platters, as well as military uniforms from Duntroon.

“And in addition to all of the Portobello Road stallholders, many of our regular Sunday stallholders will also be there. A Sunday at the Market is always a good Sunday,” Anthony concluded.

Portobello Road in August is on Sunday 14 August, open from 10am until 4pm and entry is free.
