The fun is in the hunt this August at the award-winning Old Bus Depot Markets in Canberra. Fossick through the aisles in search of treasures, from old wares and collectables to linen and lace, at their third and final Portobello Road event for the year on Sunday 12 August 2012.
“If you love the thrill of ‘the hunt’, you’ll love scouring the aisles for unusual collectables and peculiar pieces. You never know what treasures you might find,” said Old Bus Depot Markets Director, Diane Hinds.
“Everything old is new again, and there has been a rise in popularity for home decorating and fashion with finds from markets like ours. Tea cups and saucers, lace and old fabrics, small antiques, pictures and more, it’s clear that vintage is back in fashion – and Portobello Road is a great place to find these unique pieces.
“No two Portobello Road events are the same and the products always change, so visitors are bound to find something fresh, interesting and collectable,” Diane continued.
At Portobello Road you’ll find a vast array of vintage pieces, from Scandinavian mid-century chairs to retro decorative arts, vintage clothing and fine silver, small antique furniture and restored pieces. The event always boasts plenty of eye catching pieces and visitors will have the opportunity to converse with experienced dealers and designers during the day.
This includes stallholders Elizabeth and Ray Wilkinson, who are spending their retirement focusing on their passion for antiques and collectables. They trawl through op shops most weekends in order to find the coolest retro furniture, jewellery, clothing and old wares. And they like nothing better than bringing some of their best finds to customers at Portobello Road.
