Media Release – Monday 27 August 2012

Canberra’s popular Saturday morning market, the Capital Region Farmers Market, will be hosting the 2012 People’s Choice Stallholder Awards on Monday 10 September 2012 to recognise the best of the Market’s Canberra and regional stallholders, as voted by Market customers.

“Now in its second year, the People’s Choice Stallholder Awards are the perfect way of recognising the outstanding efforts of the stallholders at the Capital Region Farmers Market,” said Farmers Market spokesperson, Tony Howard.

“Whilst we think all our stallholders are award-worthy, we’ve told our customers that it’s OK to play favourites sometimes, and we’ve asked them who they would like to see acknowledged as the very best at what they do at the Market each week.”

Customers have voted across nine categories: vegetables; fruit and nuts; meat, poultry and seafood; baked goods; gourmet, fine foods and smallgoods; flowers, plants and garden; on-site, ready-made meals and food; dairy, honey and eggs; and coffee, tea and hot drinks.

Voting is now closed and the results are being tallied, with all to be revealed at the Awards presentation dinner at The Abbey Function Centre at Gold Creek Village, Nicholls on Monday 10 September 2012. Limited tickets for the three course dinner are available for purchase at www.farmersmarketawards.com.au.

The results of the Awards will be made available via www.capitalregionfarmersmarket.com.au  after they are announced.
