Media Release – Wednesday 6 August 2014

Later this month, the Old Bus Depot Markets, are hosting their final Portobello Road theme event for 2014. To be held on Sunday 17 August, it’s a great day for people to browse a large range of antiques and collectables.

“The event is always a popular one, which is why we hold three Portobello Road days each year,” said the Old Bus Depot Markets’ Director, Morna Whiting.

“Our market visitors always comment that Portobello Road is a great day for checking out a large range of interesting and quirky collectables all in one central location.

“The fun is in the hunt as you never know what you might find amongst the stalls,” Morna continued.

Portobello Road in August will have around 25 additional stallholders with everything available from art glass, china and linens to funky lamp shades, retro decorative arts, antique jewellery, old suitcases, tea cups and saucers and ceramics to decorate the home. Every event is different as each stallholder brings what they have at the time – a great mix of delightful treasures.

Antique jewellery if always popular and local jewellery specialist John Procter of JMP Jewellery will be at Portobello Road in August with a great selection of fine, antique, estate and vintage jewellery. All of John’s jewellery is made from gold and includes precious stones such as diamonds, rubies, sapphires, emeralds and pearls. His pieces are all individual one-offs, and John prides himself on his second hand, estate and vintage pieces which he sells for around 30-50% of what you would expect to pay in stores. At Portobello Road in August John will have a selection of rings, earrings, bracelets, necklaces and pendants.

“Portobello Road in August is a great day out for lovers of small antiques and collectables and we look forward to showing you our stallholders’ best for this final Portobello Road theme event of the year,” concluded Morna.
