Spring is here again and it’s the time of year Canberra’s Old Bus Depot Markets go a little green. They will get into the swing of all things green and sustainable at their upcoming theme day, Green Savvy Sunday, to be held this year on Sunday 21 September.
“September is a great month to get some green back in your life. And it’s about time more people looked at a greener and more sustainable way of living,” said one of the Old Bus Depot Markets’ Directors, Morna Whiting.
“On Green Savvy Sunday our markets will bring together products and community groups focused on domestic green sustainable living.
“We’d love people to come along and discover the latest in green technology for the home environment, buy sustainable and recycled products and speak to people who offer programs, assistance and products to make your life more sustainable,” Morna continued.
Green Savvy Sunday is Canberra’s only interactive market bringing together products and community groups to look at more sustainable ways to live. A variety of different organisations, companies and government agencies will be on hand to discuss the products and assistance they can offer the community and householders in becoming more green.
“At Green Savvy Sunday you will be able to find products made using low energy, organic techniques or recycled materials, delicious organic food, and heaps of info on relevant green initiatives,” Morna said.
Something new and exciting for this year – the team at Switched on Cycles will be at Green Savvy Sunday with their full range of electric bikes, or E-bikes, including regular bikes that have been retro fitted with electric kits. Visitors to Green Savvy Sunday can take a test ride around the markets’ vicinity and the Switched on Cycles friendly team will be on site all day to answer any questions you may have about electric bikes in Canberra.
And a reminder that this coming Sunday, 14 September, the Old Bus Depot Markets is celebrating 20 very successful years of operation in Canberra. On this day the markets’ community will be coming together to make the day a special one. A selection of the markets’ regular buskers will perform throughout the day, and will be joined by long time stallholders and market characters to mark the occasion.
Green Savvy Sunday will be held on Sunday 21 September. Our 20th birthday will be celebrated on Sunday 14 September. Both events 10am to 4pm. Entry is free. For more information on the Old Bus Depot Markets go to www.obdm.com.au
