Canberra’s favourite Sunday Markets, the Old Bus Depot Markets, has launched the new OBDM Student Program. In partnership with the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT), the program has the ultimate aim of encouraging local business start-ups.

“Together with CIT, the new program seeks to give CIT students the opportunity to trade at the Markets. Through the program we hope to elevate students’ crafts and business sense through the entrepreneurial hub that we foster at the Markets,” said Old Bus Depot Markets Director, Anthony Niravong.

“The Old Bus Depot Markets is an iconic landmark in the Canberra community and an Australian Tourism Awards Hall of Fame winner. The Markets has been the home of many business start-ups, some of whom have gone on to have their own bricks and mortar stores and online shops, and we’re proud to watch them grow and prosper.

“This new program offers that chance to grow to CIT students who are just starting out in their own business endeavours – whether that be in the crafts, food or service industries,” Anthony continued.

As part of the program, selected participants can enjoy significantly reduced weekly stall fees at the Markets, and over $5000 in in-kind sponsorship in the form of guidance from experts who can help take their product to market.

The OBDM Student Program is now open to all CIT students and those who have graduated within a year at the time of application. Students of all ages are invited to apply, with the only requirement being a copy of their student ID. The application process takes place in two stages, students can register online at obdm.com.au/obdm-student-program/  Applications close on 8 January 2019.
