Canberra’s popular Sunday Markets have introduced a fun new event set to get the family’s festive spirits soaring just ahead of every child’s favourite time of year, Christmas.
“You may be familiar with our annual Kids in the Shed event held each June, well this year we’re doing something extra special for the kids at the market in Summer – and right near Christmas!” said Old Bus Depot Markets’ Director, Anthony Niravong.
“The new Christmas Kids will be held on Saturday 3 December and is the perfect family day out – summer sunshine, the markets, Christmas decorations, plenty for the littlies to do and see and all with a lively festive buzz,” continued Anthony.
Held for the first time ever on Saturday 3 December, Christmas Kids will have the kids laughing out loud at the cheeky resident Christmas elf entertaining the crowds from The Fool Factory. The kids can also get up close to the animals with a petting zoo from Bowral Farmyard Friends, enjoy pony and donkey rides from Poplar Corner, and giggle and play with face painting and a jumping castle from Party Smarties for extra fun.
“There will be lots of surprises and deliciously fun food and of course, many of our regular stallholders will be onsite with fabulous Christmas gift ideas,” Anthony continued.
Throughout December, Christmas at the Old Bus Depot Markets will feature everything Christmassy. Stock up on unique and handcrafted gifts for loved ones, to items to decorate your home for the silly season. Find wreaths, table centre pieces, candles and advent calendars. Choose your own live Christmas tree, order a personalised bauble and taste the delicious Christmas fare including cakes, gingerbread houses, mince tarts, puddings, shortbread, party dips, cheeses and more.
To add to the Christmas festivities, Santa will be onsite at the Markets all day on Saturday 3 December, and then again from 12.00 – 3.00pm each Saturday and Sunday in December until Sunday 18 December. There is no charge for photographs with Santa on his throne.
Canberra’s Old Bus Depot Markets is open each Sunday 10am to 4pm, as well as on Saturdays in December in the lead up to Christmas. Entry is free, admission fees apply to some attractions. More information at www.obdm.com.au
