Media Alert – Thursday 22 August 2013

The Old Bus Depot Markets is gearing up to host its environmentally focused theme day, Green Savvy Sunday, on Sunday 15 September 2013.

This interactive market brings together products and community groups focused on domestic green sustainable living.

The focus of Green Savvy Sunday is something both the markets and their stallholders feel really passionate about –how easy it is to be green in our everyday lives.

The event will offer market customers many beautiful products made with recycled materials, as well as information on ethical investments, solar power and growing food sustainably.

Green Savvy Sunday is Canberra’s first interactive market dedicated to sustainability for the home. Visitors will discover the latest and greatest products, programs and techniques to help reduce their carbon footprint.

Interesting products on offer on the day will include totes and handbags made from recycled jeans, handcrafted carpets from Cambodia (which is a Carpets for Communities project focused on sustainable solutions to ending poverty),  artisan based works using linen, leather and wool,  unique up-cycled furniture pieces and small home wares, electric bikes, organic skin care and clothing.

Justin Ryan from Armada Solar will be on hand with information available on making your house more energy neutral, and Jodie Pipkorm from Canberra City Farm will have information encouraging people to grow food locally and sustainably.
