Canberra’s Capital Region Farmers Market will remain open this coming Saturday 28th March.

“We are an essential food service bringing the Canberra region fresh, healthy produce, and will continue to maintain food supply from regional growers and a healthy diet for Canberrans,” said Capital Region Farmers Market Manager, Sarah Power.

“We have received positive feedback from the community and will continue to support our farmers and growers for as long as we can.

“We now ask our community to work together to keep everyone safe. We are putting in as many measures as we can, so that we can continue to access fresh food while also making sure we can follow social distancing to do our bit to move through the current Covid-19 situation,” Sarah continued.

Sarah said the Market has updated its measures for this weekend, with the key measure designed to encourage customers to shop and go.

“We are taking the safety of our shoppers and stallholders very seriously. We ask everyone to Shop and Go. Come to the Market, grab your essentials and then return home. We ask that only one person per household comes, and that everyone adheres to the social distancing measures while shopping and waiting in line,” Sarah said.

Additional handwashing will be available at the Market entry, tables and chairs have been removed to prevent customers lingering, customers are asked not to handle produce, and ready to eat food will only be available as takeaway.

“Again, we ask that customers do not attend the Market if they are in a high-risk category, have recently returned from overseas, are feeling unwell or showing symptoms of Covid-19,” Sarah continued.
