Media Alert – 22 March 2011

The inaugural Tourism Connect Canberra and Region Symposium 2011 will be held this coming Thursday, 24th March, at The National Convention Centre in Canberra.

This Symposium will bring together local industry members, tourism experts and staff from all areas of the Canberra and Region tourism industry. Both the Federal Minister for Tourism, Martin Ferguson AM MP, and ACT Minister for Tourism, Andrew Barr, are taking part in the Symposium.

“Tourism operators of all sizes will be given the opportunity to discuss and motivate others in the industry thus promoting growth in tourism products as we move towards Canberra’s centenary in 2013,” said President of the National Capital Attractions Association, Heather Millard.

The Symposium is run by Tourism Connect, a partnership between the National Capital Attractions Association, Tourism Industry Council ACT & Region and the Australian Government through the federally funded TQUAL Grants program.  Tourism Connect will deliver industry training and development, a new online information resource for industry operators and a new website that will help improve communication and collaboration across industry sectors.
