Media Release – Thursday 31 January 2013

Swap the chocolate egg hunt for a hunt for original antiques, jewellery and collectables at the popular Sunday markets, the Old Bus Depot Markets in Canberra.  It’s the place to be on the Easter long weekend with the special Easter Portobello Road event to be held on Sunday 31 March 2013.

Portobello Road is a favourite amongst both locals and tourists to Canberra who love browsing for collectables and small antiques, and offers a fun day out for those ready and willing to trawl the aisles, scan the stalls and pick through the piles of interesting curios.

“At our Easter Portobello Road market you’re invited to take a break from the chocolate and the hot cross buns and fossick through an eclectic mix of quirky and interesting treasures. The fun is in the hunt as you never know what you might find,” said Old Bus Depot Markets Director, Diane Hinds.

“It could be some unique homewares such as a funky lampshade, or an antique brooch that would be the perfect gift for someone special. Either way, you’re bound to find something you love and that has a story to tell.  You may also have the chance to speak to experienced antique dealers throughout the day,” she continued.

Portobello Road will see around an additional 35 stallholders descend upon the award-winning markets in Kingston, offering everything from colourful vases and cut lace tablecloths, to oil lamps, antique cuff links, jewellery, linens, restored furniture and more.

Easter Portobello Road at the Old Bus Depot Markets will be open from 10am to 4pm on Sunday 31 March and entry is free.  For more information visit www.obdm.com.au
