Media Release – 29 March 2011

Grill’d, Australia’s healthy burger specialists, are bringing the burger love to Canberra with two new burger eateries opening in Belconnen and Woden over the coming months.

“Our Canberra fans asked for it and we’re thrilled to deliver with two new havens for burger lovers in the nation’s capital,” said Grill’d founder and Managing Director, Simon Crowe.

“We know Canberrans are very health conscious and love sport, and we’re here to challenge the perception that burgers are unhealthy by making a burger that is high in nutritional value.

“Grill’d offers a home made style of burger with quality ingredients that make them great for those who enjoy eating well and keeping fit and healthy. They’ll definitely satisfy hungry Canberrans craving some burger love – and of course a delicious, healthy and affordable meal,” he continued.

The Grill’d Canberra menu features 20 different 100% beef, chicken, lamb and vegetarian burgers, as well as a range of steak sandwiches and salads, all of which are ‘made with love’ from high quality, fresh ingredients. Wholemeal buns are baked daily by their Sydney baker with no added sugar or artificial preservatives, beef is only 100% lean Australian chuck cut beef and the chicken is trimmed of fat and delivered fresh to the door, not frozen.

“Where possible, we source our fresh produce locally, stocking up daily.”

Grill’d Belconnen and Woden restaurants will employ 25-30 local staff each. Customers can choose to dine-in or take away, and the restaurants will be adorned with a custom-designed feature wall, contemporary furnishings and a modern kitchen. They will also feature artworks designed by Australian artists as part of the Grill’d Collective.

Grill’d was established in Australia in 2004, after Crowe decided to take action to address the lack of a decent, healthy hamburger offer in the marketplace. The business is Australian owned and operated.

“We want to make burgers good again and we look forward to becoming an active member of the Canberra community,” Simon concluded.

 Store Openings:
