Media alert – Tuesday 2 October 2012

Much loved and long-standing stallholder at the Old Bus Depot Markets, award-winning visual artist Naomi Crowther, will be moving into a dedicated gallery space at the markets from this Sunday 7 October 2012.

The Naomi Crowther Gallery Space has been a familiar sight at the markets since August 1999.  Thirteen years on, the 38 year old mother of two is upgrading her stall to the space formerly occupied by ‘Material Pleasures’, purveyors of quality recycled clothing.

The move provides Naomi with the opportunity to display her one-of-a-kind, highly collectable pieces in a more personal and complementary setting to customers at the markets.  This includes her new series of coastal-themed paintings, inspired by her recent move to the South Coast, as well as her extremely popular ‘Poppies’ series.

Naomi’s artworks have been hung alongside Archibald winners, awarded several prestigious prizes — including the Royal Canberra Art Show best print award in 2007 —  and feature in private and corporate collections both locally and internationally.

To celebrate the grand opening of her new space at the markets, Naomi will be giving away a ‘Lucky Door Prize’ painting valued at $300, as well as two runner-up vouchers of $100 and $50.  Winners will be drawn at 3pm sharp.

Social photographers and media representatives are invited to attend the grand opening of Naomi’s new gallery space at the Old Bus Depot Markets, and to view her new series of coastal inspired paintings.
