Media Release – Wednesday 27 February 2013

Dust off your platforms, get off the Featherston, and channel your inner hipster at Retro Depot, an exciting new theme event at the Old Bus Depot Markets in Canberra which will make its inaugural appearance on Sunday 21 April 2013.

A celebration of all things retro cool, at Retro Depot you’ll find fashion, homewares, furniture, jewellery and accessories that will push your ‘groove button’.  Can you dig it?

“We’re pleased to welcome the new Retro Depot event to the Old Bus Depot Markets and celebrate those groovy products and innovative designs from yesteryear,” said Old Bus Depot Markets Director, Diane Hinds.

“With their funky shapes, gorgeous colours and practical functionality, these products retain their popularity for a reason, and we think the styles from the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s work just as well now as they did back in the day,” she continued.

“Join us for a unique trip down memory lane — you’re sure to find something that you love and with its own story to tell.”

At Retro Depot customers will find a range of hip products from desk lamps and clocks to typewriters and jewellery.  Funky threads, old-school furniture and a nod to past legends and trends will also feature in this step back in time.

Phillip and Julie Chapman from the company Charlie Foxtrot will travel to Retro Depot from their hometown of Bowral, NSW.  With a range of retro goodies such as Bakelite telephones and vintage cufflinks, Charlie Foxtrot is inspired by the young men and women who served in the Battle of Britain in the summer of 1940.

Retro Depot at the Old Bus Depot Markets will be open from 10am to 4pm on Sunday 21 April and entry is free.  For more information visit www.obdm.com.au
