At their recent Annual General Meeting, the Members of the Trustee for the Australian Mathematics Trust (AMT) approved the appointment of the new Board Chair, Belinda Robinson FAICD FRSN, who will start her appointment on 1 July 2022.

This is a significant move for the Trust, with Ms Robinson being the first female Chair of the Trust in its history and bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge in education and governance to the role.

Ms Robinson’s credentials speak for themselves with experience as a highly effective company director and chief executive. She has been a well-respected chief executive of national peak industry bodies including Universities Australia, the national body representing Australia’s university sector; and has served on many committees, reference groups, and advisory bodies.

She has also served on a number of ASX listed, private and not-for-profit Boards. She currently serves as a non-executive director on three boards, two of which she chairs.

Her particular interests in corporate governance, political advocacy, strategy development, and community and stakeholder engagement, are expected to have a positive impact on the Trust’s future direction in accommodating new ways of teaching and learning into the future.

“We are very excited to have Belinda joining the Trust as our new Board Chair. The Trust is at a very exciting point in its history, as we continue to navigate through the COVID pandemic, lead the work to support young Australians in developing their problem-solving skills and work towards hosting the International Mathematical Olympiad in Melbourne in 2025. I am looking forward to working with Belinda to help us deliver on our mission and help the Trust realise its own potential,” says Nathan Ford, AMT CEO.

“I also want to, on behalf of the staff and volunteers at the Trust, thank Dennis Trewin for his inspirational leadership as Chair, his support of me and his passion for the work of the Trust,” Nathan continued.

The current AMT Chair, Dennis Trewin AO, says of the appointment, “Belinda brings both energy and deep experience in governance and the education sector including a recent period as Chair of the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority. I am confident she will make an excellent Chair of AMTT Ltd.”

Ms Robinson will begin her Chair appointment on 1 July 2022.
