Abraham Lincoln once famously said “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I’ll spend the first four sharpening the axe.’’

Here at Threesides, we’re not landscapers or lumberjacks, but we value both your time and ours. We believe in keeping a razor-sharp axe (so to speak). It’s not that we don’t love grabbing a coffee with you downstairs at Trev’s and having a chat, we just want to make the most out of everyone’s time.

With that in mind, we’ve put together this handy list of things we like our clients to have prepared for our initial kick-off meetings. Having an answer to these questions will ensure we are able to streamline our meeting process and are able to get stuck into ticking off your marketing goals. These tips are based off hundreds of meetings with clients across all different types of industries and are sure to help kick things off in the right direction.

The agenda

First things first, check the agenda of the meeting. Our team will always outline some key topics that we’ll be going over during the meeting, so it’s a good idea for you to have a think about some of these beforehand.

Once you’ve had a look at the agenda, let us know of any additional points you’d like to cover so we can prepare ourselves to ensure we use our meeting time as effectively as possible.

The people

In some cases, it’s best just to send the main contact or person in charge to these meetings. They can then relay the message to anyone else who may need to hear it. However, in such a short span of time we often end up talking about various aspects of a project that can potentially involve different people from your team.

The first question we want you to ask yourself is ‘’who else needs to hear this?’’, so you can then bring the right people based on the purpose and agenda of the meeting. Give us a heads up on who’s coming, and their role in the project; that way we can ensure we’re giving the right information to the right person.

The stuff you love

We love getting to know your business, and no one knows your business like you. In addition to filling out our client questionnaire checklist, we love clients who come to us with some industry examples of things they love.

Whether it’s Louie the Fly or your local produce store’s new website, we want to hear what you love and why so we can see how it might fit into what we’re achieving together.

What you’ve already got

It always saves time to know where all your relevant photos and videos are stored and if you have some quality content that you’d like included in your project with us. Don’t be shy about the content you already have and send us a Dropbox or Google Drive link so we can access your assets. This applies to graphic design elements like logos, style guides, colour palettes and fonts too.

We always recommend our good friend and photographer extraordinaire, Paul from Mode Imagery, but if you’ve already got photos and videos stored away somewhere we’d love to know about it.

This helps us determine exactly what else we need from you before we can complete your project and deliver something you’ll love.

Our last recommendation comes from various frustrated clients who frantically search through a diary from 2011 for their Facebook or Google login details.

LastPass is an awesome tool to keep all your passwords safely stored in one spot for quick access and it is super simple to use. Sign up here for a free LastPass account and start storing your logins so you can finally rid your drawers of that leatherback diary that’s starting to fall apart.

There you have it; a quick and easy guide to making the most out of meetings with Threesides so we can better understand your situation and make things happen efficiently!
