MEDIA RELEASE

1 December 2010

The Old Bus Depot Markets is continuing its support of St Vincent de Paul with a Giving Tree that will be launched at the first of their upcoming Christmas Markets, this Saturday 4th December 2010.

“Every day the St Vincent de Paul Society receives thousands of calls for help, and the added pressure at Christmas time sees this increase significantly,” said Old Bus Depot Markets co-owner, Morna Whiting.

“This Christmas, you can help the St Vincent de Paul with the markets’ special Giving Tree which will provide much needed gifts to children, teenagers and families,” she continued.

Visitors to the market can select a gift and drop it off un-wrapped at the St Vincent de Paul Society’s Giving Tree at the Old Bus Depot Markets every Saturday and Sunday from 4th December – 19th December. All gifts will be collected on a daily basis by Vinnies staff members and included in the Christmas Appeal campaign.

Launching the Giving Tree coincides with the markets’ first ever ‘Real Christmas One Day Only Sale’ this Saturday. This is the first time EVER that the markets have held a sale, and the one day of the year visitors can bag an extra special bargain. The Real Christmas One Day Sale will include many and varied offers from the participating stallholders. Offers include two for ones, up to 30% off, free gifts with purchase and huge value-add promotions.

Saturday is also the day visitors can get into the Christmas spirit and watch many Christmas demonstrations including how to make the perfect shortbread,  how to make Christmas wreaths and tracing family trees.

“The markets will be open every Saturday and Sunday in the lead up to Christmas, promising original, handmade gifts for your loved ones, and all within a vibrant market buzzing with the Christmas spirit,” Ms Whiting concluded.
